Pursuant to its Constitution, Hockey Manitoba will be considering additions, deletions, and/or amendments to its By Laws and Regulations at its upcoming Semi Annual Meeting on January 20-21, 2017 at Canad Inns Polo Park in Winnipeg, MB. Motions approved at this meeting will be effective on June 1, 2016.
Motions with respect to the preceding must be submitted on the applicable form below and received by the Hockey Manitoba office no later than November 22, 2016. Please note to assist in the compilation of the materials only Motions that are submitted in the Microsoft Word format will be accepted (Calibri font, size 11) and only one notice of motion per form should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org to avoid re-typing. It should also be noted that any motions submitted after the deadline above will require a 2/3 majority vote of the Board of Directors eligible to vote as indicated in By Law 13 of the Hockey Manitoba handbook.
Pursuant to By Law 13, 1300. E, motions can be submitted by the following:
- Properly registered members in good standing eligible to vote in Councils, Congress or Assembly session
- Life members and Past Presidents
- Hockey Manitoba Committees & Councils
Council Representatives may only submit motions for consideration that are approved by the respective group they represent. Minutes of the motion’s approval must accompany the motion submitted. Motions applicable to regions, leagues or committees should be voted on in accordance with their Constitution and By Laws, and representatives are required to bring forward this position to the Hockey Manitoba Semi Annual meeting. Minor Hockey Associations must submit motions to be considered by their region, and will only be brought forward if approved at their respective regional meeting.
Please note that all Council Representatives and Board of Directors must be present to vote on any Notice of Motion, and voting by proxy is prohibited. Council representatives may assign voting rights in accordance with Hockey Manitoba By Law 6, paragraph 600. G.
The complete Notice of Motion package will be distributed to the Board of Directors and Council Representatives on December 7, 2015. The Resolutions Sub-Committee will clarify the motions that each Council is to consider within this package. Copies of the Agendas and Reports booklet will be distributed closer to the meeting date.
A separate bulletin with complete details of the Semi Annual meeting will be circulated later in December.
