WINNIPEG, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the details for the 2013 Coach Camp which will be held in Winnipeg from August 15-18, 2013. This special coach development event began in 2010 as a way to increase and promote the various opportunities for Hockey Manitoba coaches.  The Coach Camp will once again feature the Hockey Development Hot Stove on Thursday, August 15 which is an open forum for the hockey community to hear expert opinions along with the opportunity to interact with the special guest panel on the topics of athlete and coach development.

Participants will choose from two different Coach Camp options which will include special presentations along with technical coach training through Hockey Manitoba specialty clinics and certification clinics. The Grassroots Group will run August 16-17 which includes Coach Level certification, meanwhile the Developmental Group will run August 16-18 and includes Development 1 certification, both groups also include attendance at the Hockey Development Hot Stove.  Coach Camp participants will have special exclusive access to High Performance presentations which will include a video presentation by Claude Noel (Winnipeg Jets) along with live presentations Friday, August 15 at Canad Inns Polo Park. The live presentations will include Defensive Team Play by Dave Allison (Chicago Wolves, AHL), Practice Principles by Jon Rempel (University of Manitoba Bisons, CIS), Game & Bench Management by David Anning (Brandon Wheat Kings, WHL) and more.  Master Coach Mentor and Co-Chair of the Hockey Manitoba Athlete Development Committee, Bob Caldwell comments on the event; “what an incredible week of development opportunities this will be…there will be something for all coaches and we’re looking forward to every session.” The 2013 Coach Camp will coincide during the same dates as the 2013 NCCP High Performance 1 Coach Seminar which has allowed Hockey Manitoba to provide a wide variety of special guests for both events.

Names for the Hot Stove panel are still being finalized but the list currently includes; 3-time Olympic Gold medalist and 5-time World Champion, Jennifer Botterill along with Sami Jo Small who also holds 5 World Championships and 2 Olympic Gold medals. Also joining the panel will be Dave Allison who is currently head coach of the Chicago Wolves (AHL), Steven Macdonald of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (NCAA, Women), and Bert Gilling of Bemidji-State Beavers (NCAA, Men).  In the coming weeks Hockey Manitoba will round out the special guest roster for the Hockey Development Hot Stove.  The Hockey Development Hot Stove is open to everyone in the hockey community and will take place at Canad Inns Polo Park with doors opening at 6:30 PM; registration is free for the Hot Stove event but individuals must pre-register online to reserve their seat(s).
