Hockey Hot Stove event on Friday, August 12th

The 2011 Hockey Manitoba Coach Camp will also take place August 9-14, 2011 in Winnipeg. The "Hockey Hot Stove" event will take place on the evening of August 12th, which is an open forum for the hockey community to hear expert opinions along with the opportunity to interact with our special guest panel.

From grassroots to elite coaches, young or old, men and women alike, the Coach Camp offers a variety of development opportunities for ALL coaches. The philosophy of Hockey Canada & Hockey Manitoba is that "better coaches equals better players" and with that commitment in mind we intend to truly make this event a special opportunity unlike any other program offered in Canada.

ANDY MURRAY
Honourary Head Coach of Coach Camp

Andy is a native of Souris, MB and a proud Manitoban who has been a long-time contributor to the Hockey Manitoba coaching program and coach mentorship program. He has head coached 10 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Los Angeles Kings and the St. Louis Blues. In 2010 Andy served as a consultant to the Swiss National Team program.

Andy has also spent time coaching the Hockey Canada Men’s National Team program and is the only coach to lead Team Canada to 3 Gold medals at the IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championships (‘97, ‘03, ‘07).
Andy started his coaching career at 25 years old with the Brandon Travellers of the MJHL. From there Andy coached the Brandon University Bobcats which was his stepping stone to a pro coaching job in Switzerland. Andy has also been an assistant coach for the Hershey Bears (AHL), Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, and the Winnipeg Jets.

CLAUDE NOEL
Head Coach, Winnipeg NHL

Since coming to Manitoba as Head Coach of the Moose in 2010, Claude has given back to the local coach community at an admirable level. Upon recent news of his hiring as the Head Coach of Winnipeg's NHL franchise, Hockey Manitoba looks forward to his continued support in our programs.

Prior to his Head Coaching job with the Moose he spent three seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets starting the season as an Assistant Coach before taking over from Ken Hitchcock as Head Coach in February 2010. Before his time with the Blue Jackets, Noel spent four seasons as Head Coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators. During that time he led the club to a 183-94-12-31 regular season record, three 100-point seasons and two West Division titles, including two appearances in the finals. During the 2003-04 season he led Milwaukee to the organization's first-ever Calder Cup Championship and was subsequently named AHL Coach of the Year.

Noel was raised in Virginiatown and North Bay, ON. He played junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers and eventually appeared in seven games with the Washington Capitals during the 1979-80 season. He spent most of his playing career in the AHL and IHL with Hershey, Toledo, Kalamazoo, and Milwaukee.

RALPH KRUEGER
Associate Coach, Edmonton Oilers

Ralph Krueger joined the Edmonton Oilers in 2010 as an Associate Coach, previously he was the Head Coach of the Swiss National Team. During his tenure from 1997-2010, he advanced the Swiss National Team Program from 15th to 7th in the IIHF World Rankings. He guided the team to a 6th place finish at the Olympics in 2006 and 4th in the World Championship in 1998.

The Steinbach, MB product has participated in 12 World Championships and three Olympics. Prior to joining the Swiss National Team, Ralph was the General Manager and Head Coach of VEU Feldkirch in the Austrian 1st Division from 1991-1998. Under his leadership, they were a five-time Austrian Champion, three-time Alpenleague Champion and the 1998 European Champion. He also wrote a German best-seller called “TEAMLIFE – Over Setbacks to Success”, and served as a European Consultant with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2005-2010.

DAVE ALLISON
Scout, Pittsburgh Penguins

Dave has had an extensive professional coaching career with 15 seasons a Head Coach in the ECHL, AHL, IHL, OHL, UHL, and the NHL with the Ottawa Senators in the 1995-96 season. Dave previously presented at the Hockey Manitoba High Perfomacne 1 Coach Seminar in 2009.

He is currently an amateur scout of the Pittsburgh Penguins since the 2009-10 season and was the Player Development Coordinator of the Colorado Avalanche in 2008-09. The Fort Frances, ON native also had a 10 year professional playing career in the AHL and IHL, along with 3 games played with the Montreal Canadiens in 1983-84. Dave played a season of junior hockey in the MJHL with the Kenora Thistles before moving on to the Cornwall Royals of the QMJHL for three years.
