The third stream of certification is called the High Performance 1, formerly known as Advanced Level. This course is designed for coaches working with players at the elite competitive level. The course will include excellent instruction on & off ice from Hockey Manitoba & Hockey Canada personnel. The seminar event will also offer presentations from distinguished guests from various hockey backgrounds such as NHL, AHL, Major Junior, European Pro, University, and Jr.A.
High Performance 1 certification is acquired by successfully completing all three phases of the program: attend the 30 hour seminar, pass written examination, and demonstrate competencies in a field evaluation.
In order to be recognized at the High Performance 1 level, you must have completed your Respect in Sport by December 1st before registering for the in-person clinic.
Practical experience at an elite level is a necessary requirement for the High Performance 1 level.
(Bantam AAA, Bantam Female AA, Midget AAA, Jr.B, Jr.A, Sr.AAA, Major Junior, NCAA or CIS, Provincial/Regional/National teams, Professional)
The High Performance 1 will prepare coaches to:
- Design a nutrition program, a stress management program, and learn about player motivation
- Analyze skills and interpret statistics
- Design a detailed yearly plan, teach team play systems and special situations (power play and penalty killing)
- Learn about Long-Term Athlete Development and how to effectively influence the development of your athletes
The next Hockey Manitoba High Performance 1 Coaching Seminar will take place in the Summer of 2019. Applications for this seminar will be made available in January of 2019.
