Peewee Development Squads is a rural-region program for 2nd year Peewee aged players who reside within their respective Region of the current season. In order for a Region to participate in the Development Squads program, they must have a minimum of two teams per region. The teams will be made up of seventeen (17) players, consisting of two (2) goaltenders, six (6) defensemen and nine (9) forwards (15 skaters).
The formation of the teams shall be determined by the Region, they may be formed by a geographical division within the Region, or by another method determined by the Region but must be pre-approved by Hockey Manitoba. The Region shall put in place a player selection process that will provide the opportunity for any 2nd year Peewee aged player the chance to try out for a team in their region if they so desire. Teams are NOT to be formed as tiered 'A' and 'B' teams, they are to be selected EQUAL as possible for optimal skill development of all participants.
Team rosters cannot hold more than one (1) goaltender and seven (7) skaters that are registered on a Bantam AA or AAA roster. Female players are eligible as long as they are rostered on a Male Peewee team in the current season.
