86 TEAMS, 11 DIVISIONS #LEGENDARYWEEKEND

WINNIPEG, MB – The 2016 Hockey Manitoba Cup – Adult Rec. Provincials are underway this weekend at the MTS Iceplex and other local arenas.  The provincial event will officially run April 15-17 although several games were also scheduled on Wednesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 14th.  This year a total of 86 teams are competing for 11 different division championships which will result in another fun celebration of hockey in our province as was the case at the inaugural HMC in 2010, where 24 teams took part. In addition to many local area teams participating, the 2016 HMC features nearly half of the teams from rural based centres such as Onanole, Brandon, Thompson, Cross Lake and Gimli.

Each participating team receives an entry package that includes a number of different hockey gift items. Hockey Manitoba is also once again pleased to offer all participants an unrivalled experience, unlike any other adult recreational tournament in the country. The Hockey Manitoba Cup will feature several internal promotions such as the Budweiser Team Party, Tavern United Team Headquarters and Pro Team Experience.  Three (3) lucky teams were randomly selected to receive an experience at the Hockey Manitoba Cup like never before, complete with guest head coach and the Bud Girls as assistant coaches, equipment manager, sponsored jerseys, matching socks, skate sharpening, water bottles, snack table and Gatorade.

As in 2015, the participating teams will enjoy the Tavern United Team Headquarters with each Hockey Manitoba Cup team receiving complimentary items and great discounts at any Tavern United location.  The Budweiser Team Party will be held on the evening of Friday, April 15th at the Press Box Restaurant & Sports Bar (MTS Iceplex). The Budweiser Team Party will feature a free NHL Playoff Pool hosted by Hockey Manitoba and the Bud Girls, with an absolutely amazing list of prizes that will be given away throughout the evening including custom team set of CCM jerseys, apparel, gift cards and more. Royal Sports is also offering a 25% discount on all CCM hockey equipment for all Hockey Manitoba Cup participants.

Teams will compete for 11 different division championships; Men’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7A, 7B and Women’s A and B divisions.  Championship teams will receive Hockey Manitoba Provincials medals, Championship hats, Budweiser prize items, a take home replica of the Hockey Manitoba Cup and a team gift card for Tavern United.
