HOCKEY MANITOBA STAFF OPENING

POSITION:             Administrative Assistant

STARTING:            Immediately

STATUS:                 Full-time, salary

SALARY:                 Starting salary 30,000 – 32,000

HOURS:                  General office hours of 8:30 a.m – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday

Some evenings & weekends required for special events/programs

Reporting to the Executive Director, via the Director, Business Operations, the Administrative Assistant will be responsible for clerical and administrative duties relating to financial and business operations, in addition to providing general staff support on various programs and events.

CORE CAPABILITIES:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Bookkeeping and basic accounting
  • Support of financial controls and tasks
  • Administrative support on business operations, meetings, programs and initiatives

Financial

  • Bookkeeping – Accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and record deposits
  • Track and record all revenues (cash, cheque, cc/debit terminal, online, etc.)
  • Process all membership & registration fees with year-end reconciliation
  • Assist in month/year end procedures and statements
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of all financial/business documents as assigned
  • Assist in preparation and submission of GST and PST returns
  • Assist in development and adherence of internal financial controls
  • Assist in budget monitoring and statements of internal schedules, events, etc.

Administrative Support:

  • Respond to all applicable written or electronic correspondence and telephone inquiries from membership, volunteers and other applicable parties pertaining to assigned duties
  • Assist in the operation of Hockey Manitoba resource centre & inventory
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and/or proposals on various financial/legal/business issues affecting the organization
  • Assist with monthly reports, proposals, updates and other tasks
  • Assist in preparation of and attend applicable Hockey Manitoba events/meetings as assigned
  • Administrative support for Hockey Manitoba programs and events as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior staff

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Admin. (or related field) and/or applicable work experience
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals
  • Experience working with accounting software (ACCPAC, Simply Accounting, etc.)
  • Strong computer skills with extensive knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated organizational, communicational and analytical skills
  • Positive attitude, responsive, ability to multi-task and action oriented
  • Knowledge and experience of Hockey Manitoba programs and experience with volunteers is an asset
