Three Manitoban players have been drafted in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft hosted in Pittsburgh, PA with goalie Chris Driedger going to the Ottawa Senators, forward Brendan Leipsic to the Nashville Predators and defenceman Travis Brown to the Chicago Blackhawks.

All three players are current WHL players and former U-16 Team Manitoba alumni, earning a sliver medal at the inaugural Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup in 2009. Driedger and Leipsic were also selected to the U-17 Team West roster in 2011. Remarkably, all three players were also teammates in Bantam hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs.
