Colby Robak (Gilbert Plains) signs entry-level deal with Florida

SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today the club has agreed to an entry level contract with D Colby Robak.

Robak, 20, played in 71 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL) this season, placing third in the league among defensemen with 66 points (16-50-66). Additionally, he ranked first in the WHL with a +56 rating.

In 15 playoff contests, Robak scored three goals with nine assists and will play in the 2010 Memorial Cup, as Brandon is the host city for this year’s tournament. Robak was also selected to the WHL’s Second All-Star Team for his on-ice achievements during the 2009-10 campaign.

The Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, native was drafted by Florida with their second choice (46th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Robak becomes the fifth prospect to be signed by the Florida this off-season joining AJ Jenks, Marc Cheverie, Adam Comrie and Eric Selleck.
