WINNIPEG – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the details for the 2011 Coach Camp which will be held in Winnipeg from August 9-14, 2011. This special coach development event began in 2010 as a way to increase and promote the various opportunities for Hockey Manitoba coaches. The Coach Camp will once again feature the Hockey Hot Stove on Friday, August 12th which is an open forum for the hockey community to hear expert opinions along with the opportunity to interact with our special guest panel on the topics of athlete and coach development.

Participants will choose from three different Coach Camp options which will include special presentations, along with technical coach training through our Hockey Manitoba specialty clinics & certification clinics. Former NHL and 3-time IIHF World Champion head coach Andy Murray (Souris) will be recognized as the Honourary Head Coach of the 2011 Coach Camp. Murray will be joined by other professional coaches who are giving back to the program such as Claude Noel of the Winnipeg Jets, Ralph Krueger of the Edmonton Oilers and scout Dave Allison of the Pittsburgh Penguins. The event will again host an international flavour with a visit from Markus Graf who is the head of development with the Swiss Ice Hockey Association.

The Coach Camp will also feature other local coaching talent such as Tom Skinner (Brandon) of Hockey Canada and the Romanian Ice Hockey Association, Mike Sirant (Winnipeg) of the University of Manitoba, Bert Gilling (Brandon) of Bemidji Sate University, and more. Head Coach Mentor of Hockey Manitoba, Bob Caldwell comments on the event; "what an incredible week of development opportunities this will be, there will be something for all coaches and we're looking forward to every session." The 2011 Coach Camp will coincide during the same dates as the 2011 High Performance 1 Coach Seminar which has allowed Hockey Manitoba to provide a wide variety of special guests for both events.
