by Hockey Manitoba  |  March 25, 2010 3:55 pm

Rose Overwater – St. Eustache Minor Hockey, Central Plains Region

Rose Overwater has been involved with St. Eustache Minor Hockey for the last 18 years. She started in 1992 managing her sons’ (David and Steven) teams until they progressed to High School hockey. In 1993 she was elected to the treasurer position and a few years later became the ice convener and holds both positions to this day.

Rose has also held many other positions on the board while maintaining the treasury and ice convener positions. She has been the fundraiser, secretary and ref coordinator whenever the positions were left vacant. She hasserved with 5 presidents to date and many board members.

Rose continues to volunteer with minor hockey because she is totally committed to the idea that it is important to the young children in the community to have an opportunity to shine in a sport that they love during our cold winters. She has certainly made a lot of good friends through the hockey system and is an example of just how important our volunteers are in the hockey community.

Rose has two grandchildren now playing in the St. Eustache Minor Hockey system. Ironically, the current president Rose is serving with was a school age friend of her children.

Mary Anne Bergman- Interlake Minor Hockey

Mary Anne is the type of volunteer that no organization can be without. She has been involved as a hockey volunteer for many years, originally with Gimli Minor Hockey and in now in her current role as Secretary-Treasurer on the Executive of Interlake Minor Hockey for the past 13 years.

Mary Anne oversees the organization of the Interlake Minor leagues and sees them through to the end of the year. In addition, she fulfills the responsibility of treasurer and is in constant communication with all associations within Interlake.

Kris Barrett, current InterlakeDirector has been working with Mary Anne in one capacity or another for eight years and indicates that she is always available to discuss issues, take on any responsibilities as required and treats people with respect and in a pleasant manner.

On an executive level, she has been a constant for Interlake Minor Hockey. Her knowledge of minor hockey makes her an invaluable resource for everyone within the region. Without people like Mary Anne willing to give up her time to create a positive environment for young children to play hockey there would be no Interlake Minor Hockey.

Thanks Mary Anne!!

WE WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ROSE OVERWATER AND MARY ANNE BERGMAN AS THE HOCKEY MANITOBA FEBRUARY 2010 VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH!!
