Alvin Ogilvie – Portage la Prairie, MB (Central Plains)

When you think of “Caps” hockey (Central Plains Capitals AAA Midget) there is one main constant and that is equipment manager Alvin Ogilvie who is currently finishing his 15th season with the team. Alvin has shown tremendous dedication to the team and sport in general over a significant period of time.

Sometimes dealing with young men at 16-17 can be a challenge but for Alvin it comes naturally. "His recipe for success is to treat everyone with respect", says Caps coach

Blaine Boyle. So why has he done this for so long? Anyone who has met Alvin knows he genuinely loves the game and appreciates his time with the team. He is also well known to probably have the largest collection of programs and newspaper clippings of players he has been associated with over his 15 years of involvement.

Alvin exemplifies the type of volunteer that so many depend on day in and day out that contributes to the success of his team each season.

Hockey Manitoba and the Central Plains region congratulate Alvin Ogilvie as the February 2012 Volunteer of the Month.

The Volunteer of the Month award is presented by Awards & More, official partner of Hockey Manitoba.
