HAWRYLUK NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk is the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 22nd, 2015.

Hawryluk collected seven points (5g-2a) while posting a plus-four rating in two games over the past week for the Wheat Kings.

After an extended absence due to injury, Hawryluk returned to the lineup on Friday, February 20th against the Prince Albert Raiders. Hawryluk notched his second hat trick of the season, scoring three goals in a 6-4 loss to the Raiders while earning second star honours. The following night, Hawryluk registered a four point performance (2g-2a) against the Saskatoon Blades in a 7-3 victory while also claiming the game’s first star.

A 19-year-old Roblin, Manitoba native, Hawryluk has gathered 54 points (24g-30a) along with a plus-31 rating in 42 games so far this season. The 5’10”, 197 lb forward is in his third WHL campaign with Brandon. Hawryluk has amassed 161 points (66g-95a) in 162 career WHL regular season contests and was selected 32nd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2014 NHL Draft.
