HOCKEY MANITOBA ANNOUNCES AWARD WINNER

by Hockey Manitoba  |  October 31, 2003 12:12 pm

Carla MacMillan – Hockey (Coach)

Carla is presently the coach of the Female A River East Lightening Hockey
Team. This is the second season in this position and the seventh year as
assistant coach within the Winnipeg Hockey Association. Previously she
coached the Female Midget AA Fort Garry Hawks as an assistant where they won
the city championships and placed third at Provincials. Carla recognizes
that having an Advanced level female coach is important in developing high
level female hockey and thus is using this grant to enrol in the
intermediate level clinic being held in November and then work toward her
advanced level.

The Women to Watch Grant Program provides a grant of $500 a month to a
female athlete, team, official or volunteer to assist them in enhancing
their women in sport career. A separate $500 grant is awarded to a female
coach to help further develop the skills necessary to attain a higher
coaching level or to gain a higher level of coaching experience in her
chosen sport. The grants are provided in partnership between Sport Manitoba,
Coaching Manitoba and a participating Provincial Sport Organization.
