HOCKEY MANITOBA LAUNCHES ONLINE SPEAK OUT: RESPECT IN SPORT

by Hockey Manitoba  |  September 27, 2006 12:12 pm

Hockey Manitoba, in partnership with Sport Manitoba, has launched “Respect in Sport”, an online program that fulfills the Speak Out certification requirement. The program is now available by visiting the Speak Out section of the Hockey Manitoba website.

The Speak Out: Respect in Sport course is mandatory for all coaches who have not achieved their Speak Out certification either through the stand alone Speak Out course in previous years or through this year’s integrated Coach/Speak Out course. Hockey Manitoba is also encouraging any coaches who achieved their Speak Out certification more than three years ago to take the course.

As a delivery partner of the Canadian Red Cross – RespectED curriculum, Respect in Sport provides an Internet-based training tool that promotes respect, helps to prevent abuse and creates a simple process to promote a safe haven for children and young adults. Through this education, coaches are better equipped to help youth build self-esteem, learn the value of participating in sport, experience the thrill of participation and still have fun.
