FEBRUARY 2014 VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

by Hockey Manitoba  |  February 25, 2014 10:40 am

CapturePembina Valley Minor Hockey and Hockey Manitoba would like to recognize Roger Chartier as the February 2014 Volunteer of the Month. Chartier, like a lot of parents, began volunteering some 15 years ago when his two sons began minor hockey in Morris, Manitoba.

He has helped coach, manage, run the 50/50, open penalty box doors, run the time clock, fill out game sheets and organize tournaments for not only his sons’ teams but for other teams that have asked for his help. He has always been willing to lend a hand.

Known for his keen knowledge of the Hockey Canada rulebook, he’s been the go-to person for many coaches and managers in the region and beyond. If he couldn’t find the answer in the book he was on the phone with someone who did! He also held positions on both the Morris Minor and Morris St. Jean Executives for a number of years.

Following this he held the role of trainer for the local High School hockey team, the Pembina Valley Twisters of the Manitoba Major Hockey League and St. Jean Mudbugs of the Hanover Tache Jr. Hockey League. Throughout this time, he served for several years on the Pembina Valley Minor Hockey Association as convenor and most recently as Vice Director.

Hockey Manitoba congratulates Roger Chartier as its February 2014 Volunteer of the Month.
