JONATHAN TOEWS NAMED TEAM CAPTAIN OF CANADA’S UNDER-18 TEAM FOR JUNIOR WORLD CUP

CALLA, DEGRAY, MAXWELL AND MCGINN NAMED CANADA’S ALTERNATE CAPTAINS

CZECH REPUBLIC — Shawn Camp, Head Coach of Canada’s Under 18 team that is preparing for the 2005 Under 18 Junior World Cup in Breclav, Czech Republic and Piestany, Slovakia, from August 9-14, named Canada’s captain and alternate captains on Monday.

Jonathan Toews, a forward and a native of Winnipeg, MB and who played in 2004-2005 in Shattuck St-Marys in Minnesota, has been named Canada’s team captain for the Under 18 Junior World Cup.

Canada named four alternate captains on Monday, who will rotate through the event:

Alternate captains:

– Brady Calla, forward of Kelowna, BC (Everett, WHL)

– John de Gray, defense, of Markham, ON (Brampton, OHL)

– Ben Maxwell, forward, of North Vancouver, BC (Kootenay, WHL)

– Jamie McGinn, forward, of Fergus, ON (Ottawa, OHL)
