Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce that local official, Danielle McGurry (Winnipeg), has been selected by Hockey Canada to officiate a women’s pre-Olympic exhibition game between Team Canada and Team USA on December 12th in Calgary, AB.  The assigment is another special achievement for the local product who was recently given an IIHF assigment for the 2014 World Women’s Championship – Group B Qualifying tournament and previously the 2013 National Women’s U-18 Championship earlier this month.

Canada’s National Women’s Team will face the United States in game 3 of a six-game series that will help the team prepare for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.  Canada won the previous two series matches with 3-2 and 6-3  victories back in October.  During the 2009-10 season, Canada’s National Women’s Team played 30 games against AMHL teams in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C. Canada also played a six-game series against the United States during that season to help both teams prepare for Vancouver 2010, where Canada won its third straight Olympic gold medal.
