by Hockey Manitoba  |  December 20, 2013 2:38 pm

October 2013 – Jamie McFadden (Yellowhead)

Jamie McFadden

The Yellowhead Region and Hockey Manitoba would like to recognize Jamie McFadden as the October 2013 Volunteer of the Month.  McFadden has been involved with Minor Hockey in Rivers and with the Tritown/Rivers Minor Hockey for over 25 years.

His coaching career began in 1986 when he took on the coaching duties for a bantam team as a non-parent. Since then, it seems as if Jamie has not left the rink.  Having coached and managed teams from 1993 to the present, he has also served as the manager for the local high school team for since 2007.  McFadden has been instrumental in running the arena in Rivers, serving on the board in all capacities for several years.  If he is not managing a team, he can be seen helping out at the rink doing whatever needs to be done.

He has played an integral part in hosting of a number of Provincials Championships in Rivers and has served on the local minor hockey board in a number of positions.

Hockey Manitoba congratulates Jamie McFadden as its October 2013 Volunteer of the Month.

November 2013 – Mike Kohli (Norman)

Mike Kohli

Mike Kohli has been a tireless volunteer for the Norman region for over 10 years, holding the titles of Female Vice Director and most recently, Vice Director.  He is also the President of the Manitoba Female AAA Midget Hockey League and was instrumental in the league’s formation. For many years, he was the President of Cross Lake Minor Hockey Association and continues to serve on their board as Register.

Kohli works actively in both female and male programs within Hockey Manitoba and the Norman region, improving enrollment and the skills of the players and coaches.  He has stepped in to facilitate Hockey Manitoba’s coaching clinics for over six years and always finds time to sit down and talk with coaches and players.

Kohli is always in the rink no matter who’s playing and calls on coaches to ensure they have resources they need, makes sure teams have enough players and that all players have the opportunity to play the game. Hockey Manitoba congratulates Mike Kohli as its November 2013 Volunteer of the Month.

December 2013 – Reg Chartrand (Interlake)

Reg Chartrand Pic2

Reg Chartrand is from Lake Manitoba First Nation and has been involved in minor hockey for approximately 15 years. Since 2008, Chartrand has been the President of Lake Manitoba Minor Hockey and this year was elected as a North Director of Interlake Minor Hockey.

Chartrand’s goal is to see every child in Lake Manitoba have the opportunity to participate in the sport of hockey.  For two years in a row, when minor hockey was just beginning in Lake Manitoba, he coached and transported two hockey teams.

It is inspiring to witness the commitment and desire that Chartrand has for his community. Hockey Manitoba congratulates Reg Chartrand as its December 2013 Volunteer of the Month.
