TEAM MANITOBA CAPTURES 1ST PLACE

by Hockey Manitoba  |  September 28, 2004 12:12 pm

CONGRATULATIONS to the Female POE team for capturing first place at the University of Manitoba Pre-Season Invitational Tournament last weekend.

The team opened the weekend with a 3 – 2 loss to the University of Manitoba Bison on Friday night. Saturday morning the team faced off against the Bison Alumni and came out with a 2 – 0 win. Saturday night, the team needed a win against Shattuck St. Mary’s School to face the University of Manitoba in the final on Sunday. Both young teams played well, but Team Manitoba hit the scoreboard first with a goal from Addie Miles. Jamie McClintock added an empty net goal on the penalty kill in the last minute of the game to seal the victory.

On Sunday, the team faced an aggressive University of Manitoba team in the battle for first place. It was a defensive battle, but Jodie Charison of Team Manitoba potted the only goal of the game to give Team Manitoba the win.

Congratulations to the entire squad for a great tournament. This was the final phase of the evaluation process for the team. Stay tuned for the release of the final roster for Team Manitoba who will be competing in the Under 18 National Championship in Salmon Arm, B.C., January 25 – 31, 2005.
