Peluk and Hawthorn to attend Hockey Canada Officiating Level VI Seminar

WINNIPEG, MB – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce that Trevor Peluk and Dale Hawthorn have been selected to attend the 2013 Hockey Canada Officiating Program – Level VI Seminar. Trevor and Dale will be attending the National seminar held for certifying high performance officials, from November 6-10 in Montreal, Quebec.

The purpose of this Hockey Canada Seminar, which is only held every two years, is to provide top Level V referees with the newest information, techniques and procedures available to elite officials. At this high performance seminar, officials will receive instruction from the Hockey Canada Officiating Program’s top instructors and guest presenters, including representatives from the NHL and IIHF. Delegates will also receive feedback and skill comparison with game supervision from National Supervisors.

Trevor Peluk (Winnipeg, MB) has been active as an official in the Hockey Manitoba community since 2000.  Trevor is currently a Level V official who has represented Hockey Manitoba at both interprovincial and international events. He has refereed the gold medal game at the Keystone Cup in 2013 as well as the Midget AAA West Regional in 2012.  Peluk represented Hockey Canada and Hockey Manitoba as an IIHF referee at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in Drummondville/Victoriaville, QC which included a semi-final assignment.

His long list of officiating experience includes being a referee for the CIS (University), MJHL (Jr.A), KJHL (Jr.B), MMJHL (Jr.OA), MMHL (Midget AAA), and various Senior leagues. Peluk is a role model for younger officials by being involved with the Hockey Manitoba Officiating Development Program as a clinic instructor and an off-ice officiating coach/mentor. Trevor exemplifies his dedication to his craft through excellent rule knowledge, and a high level of fitness. “His dedication, passion and experience within the officiating program has qualified him to be our selection for the Hockey Canada National Level VI Seminar” comments Grant Heather, Hockey Manitoba Director of Officiating.

Dale Hawthorn (Winnipeg, MB) has been active as an official in the Hockey Manitoba community since 1997. Dale is currently a Level V official who has represented Hockey Manitoba at interprovincial events. He has refereed the Telus Cup in 2009 as well as the bronze medal game at the Keystone Cup in 2008. Hawthorn facilitated the University of Manitoba’s Mini-U Officials Development Camp in 2004 and 2005. In 2007, Hawthorn was selected to attend the Officials Program of Excellence held in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Dale’s officiating experience includes being a referee for the MJHL (Jr.A), KJHL (Jr.B), MMJHL (Jr.OA), MMHL (Midget AAA), and various Senior leagues. Hawthorn has been a role model for younger officials by being active as a clinic instructor for 12 years throughout various locations in Manitoba.
