TWENTY-ONE PLAYERS & COACHES SELECTED FROM MB

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the twenty-one (21) Manitoba-born players and coaches that will be working towards or have already been selected to represent Canada at upcoming prestigious tournaments and events.

Seven (7) Manitoba-born Junior A players will be looking to earn one of the 22 spots on Team Canada West’s final roster that will be competing at the 2015 World Junior A Challenge in Cobourg and Whitby, Ontario from December 13-19, 2015.  This year marks the 10th edition of the World Junior A Challenge and will follow the same format as previous years – two Canadian teams will be joined by four international teams, with two groups of three teams.  Along with the seven (7) players, one (1) Manitoba-born Coach will be joining Team Canada West.  The players and coaches selected from Manitoba include:

Two (2) Manitoba-born players will look to crack the National Junior Team roster that will compete at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland from December 26, 2015-January 5, 2016.  Canada won gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship on home ice in January.  The team has not won gold in Europe since 2008.  The players selected from Manitoba include:

Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) has announced its roster for a two-game exhibition series between CIS men’s hockey all-stars and Canada’s National Junior Team prospects taking place in Toronto, Ontario from December 12-13,2015.  Among the twenty-three (23) player roster, one (1) Manitoba-born player and one (1) Manitoba-born coach have been selected to the CIS men’s hockey all-stars team.  The players and coaches selected from Manitoba include:

Two (2) Manitoba-born players and two (2) Manitoba-born coaches have been selected to help defend Canada’s gold in Fussen, Germany at the 2016 Nations Cup, taking place January 4-7, 2016.  The Nations Cup, formerly known as the Air Canada Cup, MLP Cup and Meco Cup, brings together Canda’s National Women’s Development Team and national teams from Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland for a four-day international tournament.  The players and coaches selected from Manitoba include:

Five (5) Manitoba-born players have been selected to the National Women’s U18 Team Canada who will compete at the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship taking place in St. Catharines, Ontario from January 8-15, 2016.  The 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship will feature eight teams  – Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States. Canada opens up their tournament against Russia on January 8, 2016 as they search for their fifth gold medal since its existence. The players selected from Manitoba include:
