U-16 Team Manitoba loses opener to Team Alberta

MOOSE JAW – Team Manitoba came out to a focused start but faltered on the game’s first penalty kill to lose that momentum and go down 1-0. Team Alberta followed with another quick strike to take a 2-0 lead which held until the second period. Team Manitoba got on the board early in the second period with a power play goal by Nick Matthews, followed by a second goal several minutes later by Jayce Hawryluk. Teams began the third period tied at 2, but Alberta stole momentum once again with two goals in the first half of the period. Team Manitoba answered with another power play goal but couldn’t close the gap as Team Alberta scored their fifth of the game and closed out with one last mark by Brayden Point.
