U-16 & U-18 Team Manitoba Prep Camp rosters released

by Hockey Manitoba  |  June 25, 2013 2:05 pm

WINNIPEG, MB- Following the Program of Excellence (POE) TOP-40 Camp held in May, Hockey Manitoba is pleased to release the Prep Camp rosters for both the U-16 (Male) and U-18 (Female) programs. The players named to these short lists have been invited to participate in the Team Manitoba Prep Camp held August 15-18, 2013. The Prep Camp is the last camp setting in the POE process, however it is not the final phase before selecting the Team Manitoba rosters. Following the Prep Camp each program will use a combination of exhibition games and scouting to cut down to the final roster size of 20 players before their respective championship tournaments.

Both programs have cut down to 27 players; the U-16 program will see 3 goalies, 8 defensemen, and 16 forwards move on in the program, meanwhile the U-18 program will see 3 goalies, 9 defensemen, and 15 forwards at the Prep Camp. This year’s camp will be held in conjunction with the 2013 High Performance 1 Coach Seminar, also hosted by Hockey Manitoba. Coaches participating in the High Performance 1 certification seminar will have an opportunity to work with both the U-16 and U-18 athletes and coaching staffs. In comparison to the POE TOP-40 Camp, the Prep Camp provides more of an intimate setting for establishing technical tactics and systems along with special team building opportunities. The camp also provides a skills and conditioning component for the athletes who will attend their respective training camps shortly after this event.
