U-18 Team Manitoba loses opener to Team Ontario-Red

SAGUENAY, QUE- After a fast start, which saw Manitoba take a 1-0 lead on goal from Callan Harland, Team Manitoba was able to finish the first period with a 2-1 lead over tournament favourite Ontario-Red. Unfortunately, Manitoba faltered a bit in the second period leaving Ontario-Red to capitalize, scoring five unanswered goals, finishing the period in a 6-2 deficit. Ontario-Red was able to put two more in the board, finishing the game with 8-2 victory. Team Manitoba was lead by Jessica Vallotten, who had a solid defensive effort and scored Manitoba only other goal, and Ashleigh Brykaliuk, who assisted on both goals and was named Team Manitoba's Player of the Game.
