U-18 Team Manitoba suffers a tough overtime loss against Alberta

SAGUENAY, PQ- After a tremendous 3rd period, which saw Hayley Studler tie up the game at 1 with 2:10 left in the period, Team Manitoba suffered a tough defeat at the hands of a goal by Team Alberta, 2:15 into overtime. Team Manitoba was lead by the efforts of Captain Meghan Dufault and the solid defensive play of Halli Kryzyaniak.

After a scoreless first period, Team Alberta was able to put the puck by Amanda Schubert for the first goal of the game at 3:09 mark of the second period. Team Manitoba turned their play around in the 3rd period, applying pressure on the Alberta defence, finally capitalizing with a Hayley Studler goal off of two great passes from Danielle Krzyszczyk and Madison Hutchinson.

Overtime saw Team Manitoba continue its forecheck until Alberta was able to make a rush to the net in the defensive zone, scoring on a deflected puck that appeared to be off a Alberta players skate.

Amanda Schubert highlighted Team Manitoba's solid defensive effort with 32 saves in a losing cause.

Goal: Vilgrain (Smith, Murray), Sowchuk (Unassisted)

Team Manitoba will hit the hit once again on November 4th, 2011 in a crucial game against British Columbia
