WHEAT KINGS’ HAWRYLUK NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Brandon Wheat Kings forward Jayce Hawryluk is the WHL Player of the Month for February 2016.

Hawryluk, a 20-year-old from Roblin, MB amassed 33 points (7g-26a) to go along with a plus-19 rating in 13 games played during the month of February. Hawryluk recorded multiple-point outings on 10 occasions, including three instances in which he collected at least four points to help guide the Wheat Kings to a record of 8-3-2-0 for the month.

Hawryluk’s performance in February saw him earn one first star honour and two second star mentions. Hawryluk’s efforts have helped the Wheat Kings remain in first place in the East Division standings and clinch a 2016 playoff berth. Hawryluk recorded a career-high six points (2g-4a) on February 17th against the Kootenay ICE in a Wheat Kings 11-1 victory.

The 5’10, 194 lb forward is second in Club scoring with 79 points (30g-49a) in 49 games played, which also places him tied for eighth in scoring amongst all WHL skaters. Hawryluk is in his fourth season with Brandon and has amassed 251 points (102g-149a) along with a plus-80 rating in 223 career regular season contests.

Hawryluk’s accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for February.
