Growing the Game

The promotion of grassroots hockey is a core organizational objective of Hockey Manitoba. We believe that everyone has the right to play hockey barrier free, and we are committed to making the game more accessible and inclusive for all.

The key objective with Growing the Game is the promotion of grassroots hockey initiatives around Manitoba and the development of accessible, meaningful, and FUN programs that let people fall in love with the game.

Moreover, we are committed to fostering positive relationships with like-minded organizations and engaging youth in communities across the province through initiatives such as our Under-7 Face-Off Festivals and Girls Hockey United celebration.

Connections will be established with new and existing hockey players and their families, with a renewed focus on working with marginalized communities while creating opportunities for growth in all facets of the game, including coaching and officiating.

A major principle of Grow the Game will be to always focus on WHY we play sports. Hockey holds special places in people’s hearts for different reasons, and Hockey Manitoba hopes to make hockey experiences that everyone enjoys. By developing programs that are meaningful and accessible, we will create spaces that allow one to think differently about the game of hockey and make it fun and welcoming for all. Join us in Making Hockey More!
