2015 DC Prospects

DCP-Logo-100x81The 2015 Director’s Cup Prospects program will begin with rural regional selections held late-January to early-February; contact your home region for tryout information such as dates, times, and tryout fees.  Each Region must submit a list of 18 skaters, 2 goalies + option of up to 6 additional alternates to participate in the DC Prospects program.  The actual rural program curriculum will begin March 17th and will conclude April 30th, culminating with the Director’s Cup Prospects Tournament held May 1-3, 2015.

DEVELOPMENT CURRICULUM
CanadianWayEach region will have a desingated DC Prospects coaching staff to deliver the 6-week development curriculum that embodies key concepts from Hokcey Manitoba & Hockey Canada.  Players will participate in both on-ice and off-ice sessions that are designed to cover key skills and concepts needed at the Major Bantam level leading into the U-16 Program of Excellence and junior draft year (MJHL, WHL) while building a strong foundation for Midget, Junior, and into National team programs.

EXHIBITION TOURNAMENTS
March 27-29 there will be two rural exhibition tournaments hosted (East, West) where players will participate alongside their regional peers as a team.  Each team will play 3 games during this period, local DC Prospects coaching staff will coach their home region.  East site – Portage la Prairie, West site – Dauphin.  Hockey Winnipeg exhibition tournament (VP Cup) hosted April 10-12 – Selkirk.

PROSPECTS TOURNAMENT
JK2_6748Players will participate on mixed-regional rosters for the Director’s Cup Prospects Tournament providing an identical experience to the U-16 POE Spring Tournament and a key character building opportunity.  Players and coaches will be assigned to 12-16 teams to compete in 4 games over the tournament weekend.  The 2015 tournament will be held May 1-3, 2015 in Winnipeg.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION
Once identified/selected by your home region all players will be provided a web link for the central registration portal hosted by Hockey Manitoba.  The portal will include online registration form, online payment (credit card only), and option to purchase program apparel. Standardized program fees province-wide include program items such as: ice time, off-ice sessions, facilities, practice jerseys, game jerseys, socks, honorariums for program staff, player/coach apparel, coach development resources, player development resources. Standard fees will be appx. $325 per player province-wide for the 6-week program. Additional fees from your home Region will be required for value-added costs specific to your Region (ie. coach mileage, extra facilities, extra group events, etc).

WHL SKILLS COMBINE
IMG_2571 Players participating in the DC Prospects program will be eligible for the WHL Skills Combine hosted August 13-16, 2015 by Hockey Manitoba and the WHL. The combine will feature 120 players selected from the DC Prospects program participating in skills & fitness testing using state-of-the-art technolgy by Sport Testing Inc, plus additional skills practices, and inter-squad games. All skills/fitness testing results are instantly uploaded into the WHL scouting database for member clubs to evaluate and compare. Once selected, player registration for the combine is appx. $295.
