Female U-18

The Female Program of Excellence is designed to provide high performance female players with the opportunity to develop advanced skills as well as an introduction to the concepts needed to play at an elite level. Players from the Program of Excellence go on to play at the CIS, NCAA and International level.

Eligibility/Selection:

  • The program will begin with approximately 68 athletes selected to participate in the U-18 POE Spring Selection Camp in April.
  • Athletes are selected by the U-18 Coaching staff utilizing scouting information from Hockey Canada and club team coaching staffs.
  • Athletes for the 2019 Female Program of Excellence must have been born between Jan 1, 2002 and Dec 31, 2003.
  • For an athlete to be eligible for selection into POE they MUST be registered with a sanctioned program within Hockey Manitoba (AAA, AA, A or Sport School).
  • Athletes that participate in the WWHSHL are ineligible for the Female Program of Excellence UNLESS they are also registered to a sanctioned minor hockey program.

U-18 POE Spring Selection Camp

April 12-14, 2019
Seven Oaks Arena
Winnipeg, MB

  • Approximately 68 athletes are selected and sent invitations in March for the U-18 POE Spring Selection Camp.
  • Athletes are placed onto teams and participate in skills and exhibition games over the course of a weekend.
  • All athletes are provided with a CCM Custom tournament uniforms.
  • Evaluation is done throughout the camp by the U-18 POE Coaching Staff.
  • Athletes are notified approximately two weeks following the conclusion of the camp regarding selections/releases for the next phase of the program.
  • Released athletes are not provided with a written evaluation following the U-18 POE Spring Selection Camp.
U-18 POE Top-40 Camp

May 12-14, 2019
Canad Inns/Stride Place
Portage la Prairie

  • Approximately 40 athletes are selected for the U-18 POE Top-40 Camp.
  • Athletes are placed onto teams and participate in skills, team meetings, team building and exhibition games over the course of three days.
  • All athletes stay at the Canad Inns Portage la Prairie and Hockey Manitoba coordinate all meals, transportation and accommodations throughout the camp.
  • Evaluation is done throughout the camp by the U-18 POE Coaching Staff with input from participating bench coaches.
  • Athletes are notified approximately two weeks following the conclusion of the camp regarding selections/releases for the next phase of the program.
  • Released athletes are provided with a written evaluation following the U-18 POE Top-40 Camp.
U-18 POE Summer Prep Camp

July 5-7, 2019
Morden, MB

  • Approximately 23 athletes are selected to participate in the U-18 POE Summer Prep Camp.
  • The camp consists of tech/tac practices, skills practices, inter squad mini-games and team building.
  • Athletes are responsible for their own accommodations, meals and transportation during the camp.
U-18 POE Bison Exhibition Series

August 30 - September 1, 2019
Max Bell Centre
Winnipeg, MB

  • All athletes from the U-18 POE Summer Prep Camp participate in tech/tac practices, team building and exhibition games against the U of M Bison Women's Hockey team.
  • All evaluation is done by the U-18 POE Coaching Staff.
  • Athletes are responsible for their own accommodations, meals and transportation during the camp.
  • Coaching staff make their final selections and notify athletes of their selection/release by the end of September.
  • Released athletes are provided with a written evaluation following the U-18 POE Bison Exhibition Series.
