Norman Volunteer Recognition Award

This past year Kathy volunteered working hard to organize the AAA Bantam Male program within Norman, working with Hockey Winnipeg who included Norman in their AAA Bantam League. This being the last AAA program to get off the ground within Norman region giving all Norman players the same opportunity as kids in the rest of the province.  Kathy was also still involved with the Midget AAA Northstars.

Volunteer-ValentinoKathy has a long list of involvement with the Northstars – Kathy became involved with the Northstars in Dec. 1993 starting as a billet parent off and on for 7 years.
In the late 90’s she was instrumental in starting a Northstar Kidz Club.  Then Kathy took on the Northstars souvenir fundraising role for many years.  In 1999-2001 Kathy was the vice-president of the Northstars, the organization operated for a few years without a president and Keith Burak and Kathy shared the duties.  Kathy organized the 25th year events for the Northstar organization with sponsorship for hockey bags, weekend display and beer gardens.  The last 8 years Kathy has been doing the public relations role for the Northstars. Kathy looks after ticket printing, community events for players, memorabilia, etc. Kathy still helps out wherever needed within the Northstars organization.

Kathy became involved with Thompson Minor Hockey as the Munn Cup Chair in 2001, chairing this event for a number of years.  She also chaired the Thompson Novice Tournament for 5 years. Kathy officially joined the Thompson Minor hockey board in 2011 as the Hockey Development Chair.  Kathy organized coaching development bringing in Billy Keane for 2 years. Kathy was instrumental in requesting our last Development 1 course and Hockey Weekend events in the Norman Region.  Kathy has also facilitated Thompson parent meetings for each age group for the past 2 years in a row discussing the Long Term Player Development Model recommended by Hockey Canada.

Congratulations to Kathy for her hard work and dedication to the game.
