100TH ANNIVERSARY OUTDOOR SERIES REGISTRATION OPEN

WINNIPEG, MB- Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the 100th Anniversary Outdoor Series presented by Scotiabank taking place on Sunday, February, 15, 2015.  Hosts & teams may now register to take part in an epic hockey celebration spanning across the province of Manitoba.  Over 35 communities are estimated to host an Outdoor Series event with over 300 teams and nearly 4,000 participants province-wide. Each location will be required to host a minimum of 8 teams & 4 games throughout the day with various male & female age divisions and categories.

f-Outdoor-Series-Minor Hockey Associations who host an Outdoor Series event or have teams participating in the Outdoor Series will be eligible for $25,000 in Scotiabank Community Hockey Grants. Hosts will have a minimum criteria required in their host package for the Outdoor Series that will activate their eligibility for various Scotiabank Community Hockey Grants. Hosting guidelines will be easy-to-execute with full details included at time of application. Associations who do not have the venue to host can place a minimum amount of teams into the Outdoor Series and will still remain eligible for the grants.

Teams will register for only $29 per player based on their official 2014-15 roster size which will include a beautiful 100th Anniversary commemorative jersey made by CCM along with matching socks and a commemorative puck.  Teams registering before November 14 will be entered to win a $1000 CCM equipment prize courtesy of Hockey Manitoba.  In addition to this once in a lifetime celebration, teams will compete with and against other teams from across the province in the Black vs Gold game.  Scores from all Outdoor Series games will be collectively totalled throughout the day to see if Team Black or Team Gold will win the 100th Anniversary Outdoor Series presented by Scotiabank.  Registration will be $39 per player after November 14, with the deadline for team registration on November 28.

Hockey Manitoba will also coordinated a major social media campaign with hosts and teams throughout the day to ensure the world knows about the historic celebration taking place in the province.  Hosts will arrange various special events around the Outdoor Series to add to the excitement and enjoyment for coaches, players, parents, and local fans of the game.  Hosts will be provided fundraising opportunities through sales of special edition 100th Anniversary apparel such as commemorative jerseys, tuques, cardigans, and t-shirts.  Hosts may also celebrate local celebrities and hockey volunteers, along with social gatherings, music, and fun prize draws.

Hockey Manitoba will host several feature games throughout December and January leading up to the celebration day on February 15, with teams from some of the province’s top leagues.  More details about these featured games including dates, locations, and times will be released in the coming weeks.
