CANADA WINTER GAMES SUPPORT STAFF POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Hockey Manitoba is now accepting applications from Athletic Therapists interested in working with the 2006-2007 Team Manitoba Under-17 Male Provincial Team and the 2006-2007 Under-18 Female Provincial Team that will be competing at the 2007 Canada Winter Games to be held in Whitehorse, YT.
The tentative 2006-2007 Male Team Manitoba schedule is as follows:
2006 Summer Evaluation Camp Brandon, MB June 23-25, 2006
Team Practice (Christmas 2006) Winnipeg, MB Late December 2006
Canada Winter Games Whitehorse, YT Feb. 25 – Mar. 3, 2007

Please note that attendance at all events is mandatory and dates listed do not include potential travel dates. Due to the short notice of the June Summer Evaluation Camp, should a potential applicant be unable to attend, the candidate may still be considered for the position. Should a candidate be interested in applying, yet is unable to attend the Summer Evaluation Camp, please make note of this on the application.
All applicants must possess the following qualifications:
o Hold a minimum of a certificate (Diploma preferred) from Sport Physiotherapy Canada, hold a certificate from the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association
o Be a member in good standing of the provincial/territorial or national association
o Hold valid malpractice insurance
o Be eligible for temporary licensing in Yukon
o Have a valid CPR certificate; must have completed a Red Cross First Responder, or a Sports First responder course within the last two years or higher first aid training, (ex; PHTLS) (NOTE: not required for therapists with SPC diploma)
Furthermore, ideal candidates will possess the following traits:
o A background with the sport of hockey
o Experience working with youth athletes
o The most preferable candidate for the female program will be a female
All successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check. Please note that there will be no interview process and the successful applicants will be selected from the resumes submitted. Only the successful candidates will be notified.
