Fall Evaluation Rosters released for Program of Excellence (POE)

Hockey Manitoba has released the 2010 fall evaluation rosters forthe 2010-11 Program of Excellence (POE). These latest rosters are based on results of the Summer Camp in Brandon, MB held at the end of last month. The named players are in the final running for a roster spot in their respective POE program for this upcoming hockey season.

The U-18 Female program has been reduced to 24 players composed of 3 goalies, 8 defence, and 13 forwards. The 24 players will play in an exhibition tournament September 24-26 in Regina, SK to determine the final 20 spots forTeam Manitoba and the privilege to represent our provinceat the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, NS. The exhibition tournament will feature U-18 Team Alberta, U-18 Team Manitoba, U-18 Team Saskatchewan, University of Alberta, University of Regina, and the University of Saskatchewan. Following the exhibition tournament the final Team Manitoba roster will be announced in October.

The U-17 Male program has 29 players selected to the evaluation roster comprised of 4 goalies, 10 defence, and 15 forwards. These players will be scouted throughout the early part of the 2010-11 hockey season and only 11 will be selected to Team West. Team West is a combined roster of Manitoba and Saskatchewan players that annually competes at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. The World Under-17’s will take place in Winnipeg the next two seasons at the MTS Iceplex. The final Team West roster will be announced in November.

The U-16 Male program has not reduced after the Summer Camp and all 40 attendees will remain on the fall evaluation roster. The 40 players will be scouted during the early part of the 2010-11 hockey season similar to the U-17 program. The final Team Manitoba roster will bereleased in November to announce the 20 players who’ll represent the province at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
