2022 – 2023 Female Program of Excellence – Camp Date Changes

Hockey Canada recently shifted the dates for the 2022 Esso Cup (Canada’s National Women’s U18 Club Championship) from April 17-23, 2022 to mid-May 2022.  As a result, Hockey Manitoba will be pushing back the start of our 2022-2023 Female Program of Excellence to accommodate the completion of league playoffs.

Below are the key dates for the 2022-2023 Female Program of Excellence.

Female U18 POE:

  • Top-68 Camp – June 3-5, 2022 – Bell MTS Iceplex
  • Top-40 Camp – July 22-24, 2022 – Winnipeg (Location TBD)
  • Summer Development Camp – August 26-28, 2022 – Bell MTS Iceplex
  • Exhibition Series – September 23-25, 2022 – Saskatoon, SK
  • 2023 Canada Winter Games – February 18, 2023 – March 5, 2023 – Prince Edward Island

Female U16 POE:

  • Female U16 Evaluation Tournament – June 3-5, 2022 – Bell MTS Iceplex
  • Top-40 Development Camp 1 – July 22-24, 2022 – Winnipeg (Location TBD)
  • Top-40 Development Camp 2 – August 26-28, 2022 – Bell MTS Iceplex

Athlete Selection

Female U18 – Athletes for the Female U18 Program of Excellence will be selected by our Team Manitoba coaching staff in a conjunction with our Female POE scouting staff. Invitations will be sent out the week of April 18-22, 2022.

Female U16 – Registration for the Evaluation Tournament will begin March 30, 2022 and close on April 6, 2022. The Evaluation Tournament will be open to all interested athletes born between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2008. Athletes will be placed onto teams to participate in exhibition games which will be evaluated by a selected team of coaches and evaluators. Following the Evaluation Tournament, a group of approximately 40 athletes will be selected to move on to the Top-40 Development Camps in July and August.

The Female Program of Excellence is designed to provide high performance female players with the opportunity to develop advanced skills as well as an introduction to the concepts needed to play at an elite level. Players from the Program of Excellence go on to play at the CIS, NCAA and International level.
