Four Female U-18 POE Alumni players named top rookies
Four women who played on Team Manitoba’s Female U-18 Program of Excellence team at the 2019 Canada Winter games in Red Deer were recently named top rookies in their respective leagues.
Goaltender Raygan Kirk of Ste.Anne was named to the 2020 All-USCHO team after having a superb freshman season with the Robert Morris University Colonials in the College Hockey America conference (CHA). Kirk compiled a 15-8-1 record while posting a 1.58 goals against average (ranked second amongst CHA goaltenders) and .a 938 save percentage (ranked third amongst CHA goaltenders). Kirk was named CHA’s Goaltender of the Month in January and was named CHA Goalie of the Week three times.
Kate Gregoire (Eastman), Paige Hubbard (Westman South) and Kennesha Miswaggon (Norman) were all named to the Canada West-All Rookie team.
Gregoire (Ste.Anne) posted eight goals and an assist in 28 games for the University of Manitoba Bisons this year, including scoring six goals in the last seven games of the season.
Hubbard (Brandon) posted five goals and three assists in 28 games for the University of Regina Cougars. She played in two playoff games as well (no points).
Miswaggon (Cross Lake) had one goal and five assists in 28 games for the UBC Thunderbirds. She played in four playoff games as well (no points). Miswaggon was the 2019 recipient of the Female Aboriginal Athlete of the Year Award at Sports Manitoba’s Night of Champions event.
