by Hockey Manitoba  |  May 26, 2006 12:12 pm

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the names of the forty (40) female players who have been selected to attend the Female Program of Excellence Summer Camp to be held in Brandon June 23-25, 2006.

All players attending the Summer Camp were selected from the one hundred and twenty-eight (128) players from across Manitoba who attended the Program of Excellence Spring Tournament held April 21-23 at the Max Bell Centre in Winnipeg and represent the best female talent in province.

Twenty of the players at the Summer Camp will eventually go on to form the Team Manitoba Female Under-18 team that will compete at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory scheduled for March 4-10, 2007. For more information on the Games please visit 2007 Canada Games

The Team Manitoba Female Under-18 provincial team narrowly missed out on a medal at last years National Women’s Under-18 Championships held in Salmon Arm, BC losing to Team Atlantic (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI) in the Bronze Medal game. For the Canada Winter Games, ten provinces and two territories will be represented and Team Manitoba is looking to build on last year’s strong finish.

Team Manitoba will be coached by Peter Woods, who will be joined by assistant coaches Laura Solberg and Lainie Wintrup.
