HOCKEY MANITOBA ANNOUNCES FEMALE UNDER-18 EVALUATION ROSTER
Hockey Manitoba is pleased to announce the names of the twenty-six (26) female players named to the Team Manitoba Under-18 Evaluation Roster.
The twenty-six players were selected from a pool of the forty best female under-18 players in the province during the Hockey Manitoba Summer Evaluation Camp held in Brandon June 23-25, 2006.
The players on the Evaluation Roster will compete in two tournaments in the fall. The first is the University of Manitoba Bison Invitational scheduled for September 22 – 24, 2006 at the Max Bell Centre in Winnipeg. The second tournament is the University of North Dakota Sioux-per Series scheduled the following weekend, September 29 – October 1, in Grand Forks, ND. Team Manitoba is the defending champion at both of these tournaments and will look to repeat on their strong performances from 2005.
Twenty (20) players from the Evaluation Roster will go on to form the Team Manitoba Female Under–18 team that will compete at the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory March 4-10, 2007. The final twenty player roster will be named in late October.
At the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Campelltown and Bathurst, New Brunswick, Team Manitoba narrowly missed out on a medal losing to Team Saskatchewan 2-1 in the Bronze Medal Game. Team Manitoba will be looking to better that performance at the upcoming games.
Peter Woods of Winnipeg is the Head Coach of Team Manitoba. He is joined by Assistant Coaches Laura Solberg and Lainie Wintrup, also of Winnipeg.
