Hockey Manitoba names U-18 POE Summer Camp roster
Winnipeg – Hockey Manitoba is pleased to name the participants selected for the U-18 Female Program of Excellence (P.O.E.) Summer Evaluation Camp taking place June 17-20, 2010 in Brandon, MB. The province’s top forty (40) U-18 female athletes, born in 1993 or later, will compete for a chance to be a part of Team Manitoba at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, NS. Players have been selected from the P.O.E. Spring Evaluation Tournament held in April.
Following the Summer Camp an evaluation roster of approximately 22-25 players will be formed and will compete in an invitational exhibition tournament hosted by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association in September 2010. The tournament will take place in Regina, SK and will feature three U-18 provincial teams (Team Alberta, Team Manitoba and Team Saskatchewan) and three CIS teams (University of Alberta, University of Regina and University of Saskatchewan). Following the tournament twenty (20) players will be selected and Team Manitoba will be officially announced in early October 2010.
The 2011 Canada Winter Games – Female Hockey takes place February 19-27 in Halifax, NS, with all hockey games played at the Halifax Metro Centre and the Dartmouth Sportsplex. Team Manitoba is coming off a Silver medal performance at the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, NWT and looks to continue as a legitimate Gold medal contender in U-18 female competition. Team Manitoba is coached by Tony Franklin (Deloraine) along with Ashley van Aggelen (Winnipeg) and Rob Voth (Winnipeg) as assistant coaches.

The P.O.E. Summer Camp features the U-18 Female camp as well as the U-17 Male (Team West) camp and the U-16 Male (Canada Games) camp.
