HOWDEN ADDED TO U18 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROSTER
CALGARY, Alta. – The Western Hockey League’s Brett Howden (Oakbank, Man./Moose Jaw, WHL) and Connor Hall (Cambridge, Ont./Kitchener, OHL) of the Ontario Hockey League are the two newest additions to Team Canada’s roster for the 2016 IIHF U18 World Championship in Grand Forks, N.D.
Howden was a member of Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team who won a bronze medal at the 2015 IIHF U18 World Championship in Switzerland; he also won a gold medal with the Men’s Summer Under-18 Team at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Canada plays the Czech Republic in their second game of the tournament tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. PT); they’ll also play Finland, and Slovakia in preliminary-round action. TSN/RDS the official broadcast partner of Hockey Canada, is broadcasting 11 games, including all of Team Canada’s match-ups.
Canada has won seven medals at the IIHF U18 World Championship, including three gold medals (2003, 2008 and 2013).
