Kim Mitchell – September 2009 Volunteer of the Month

by Hockey Manitoba  |  October 9, 2009 3:51 pm

Kim Mitchell has volunteered for many years at Elkhorn District Community Center as well as currently serving as treasurer and the registrar for Elkhorn Minor Hockey Association.

She has helped with Figure Skating, Minor Hockey, Senior Hockey and Minor Ball events and has organized countless lunch counter schedules for all of her childrens’ teams over the years. She also organizes all of the meals when Elkhorn hosts some of the Western Hockey League teams (Brandon Wheat Kings, Kooteney Ice, Everett Silver Tips, MooseJaw Warriors & others) and University hockey and track teams (U of M, U of S, U of R) on their way through Elkhorn to their next game. This has not only proven to be a great fundraiser for her community over the years, it has shown Kim’s and many others great Community Pride having these teams stop and visit their rink. All minor hockey players in the surrounding community certainly look forward to having the teams stop in when they are playing or practicing.

Kim is the first one to volunteer for any event/fundraiser EDCC hosts, from cooking pancake breakfasts, catering weddings and working at dances, to cleaning "bees" and painting at the rink. She is truly a great volunteer for Elkhorn Minor Hockey Association and always has a smile and a "wise crack" for everyone. It goes without saying that she is part of a dedicated hockey family that has generously given significant time to her community and our great game.

Hockey Manitoba congratulates Kim Mitchell as the September 2009 Volunteer of the month.
