The MWJHL offers a unique situation where teams build by drafting new players to each team after the tryout camp which runs from September 7 – 9 in the evenings. The MWJHL Draft takes place during the week following tryouts.

Teams practice once a week beginning in late September or early October. New seasons begin in October and end in March with playoffs the following year, totalling  approximately 20 weeks. Games, including playoffs, take place at the MTS Iceplex. Some travel may be required.
