He has coached various levels in both male and female hockey and has been extremely active in development of female hockey players in the Parkland region for 13 years. Phil also holds a yearly skills and development camp in Dauphin annually in the month of September.
Like many of our tremendous volunteers, Phil has been active in the game in a variety of ways. He has been on the Executive of Dauphin Minor Hockey Association and has received a variety of certification including:
- Initiation Level
- Coach Level
- Speak Out
- Respect In Sport
- Specialty Clinics
This year Phil was instrumental in bringing a CIS exhibition series to Dauphin between the U of M Bisons and the U of R Cougars. It was part of the development weekend and he was able to have the coaches and players from each team go on the ice with Parkland female players. It was a great success and Parkland is fortunate to have the zeal that Phil has in the development of female hockey in the region.
Hockey Manitoba congratulates Phil Fafard as the October 2011 Volunteer of the Month.
The Volunteer of the Month award is presented by Awards & More, official partner of Hockey Manitoba.
