Pickard brings home a Gold from 2009 World Juniors

Winnipeg native Chet Pickard will be bringing home a Gold Medal from the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships in Ottawa, ON. Team Canada downed Sweden in the final 5-1 with co-netminder Dustin Tokarski (Watson, SK) getting the call in net for the final.

Pickard played two round-robin games, posting 2 victories with 1 shutout, .958 Save %, and 0.50 GAA. Chet also played in two pre-tournament exhibition games, also posting a shutout.

Hockey Canada has released that Pickard will return home to Winnipeg before returning to Tri-City (WHL). Chet will arrive in Winnipeg, Tuesday at 2:38 PM on flight WJ 475. Pickard’s Gold medal teammate, Brandon Wheat Kings defenseman and former Team West player, Keith Aulie (Rouleau, SK) will also arrive in Winnipeg this afternoon to return to Brandon (WHL).
