PROVINCIAL CHAMPS REP HOCKEY MANITOBA APRIL 3-6
Hockey Manitoba is pleased to acknowledge the provincial champions who will be representing the organization and province at various regional championships April 3-6, 2014;
Pembina Valley Hawks – Female Midget AAA
The Pembina Valley Hawks continued their dynasty streak in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) with a sixth straight championship. The Hawks will now move on to face the Weyburn Gold Wings in the Esso Cup – West Regional qualifier held April 4-6 in Weyburn, SK. The winner of the best-of-three series will advance to the 2014 Esso Cup – National Female Midget Championship held April 20-26 in Stoney Creek, ON. In 2012 the Pembina Valley Hawks won the Esso Cup held in Charlottetown, PEI. Earlier this season two members of the Hawks were named to the U-18 Team Manitoba roster; Friesen, Keen (Captain). Winnipeg Wild – Male Midget AAA
The Winnipeg Wild won their third straight Manitoba Midget Hockey League (MMHL) championship to advance to the TELUS Cup – West Regional qualifying tournament held April 3-6 in Prince Albert, SK. The Wild will compete in a round-robin tournament with the top two teams earning a spot in the regional final held on April 6. Three members of the Wild were named to the 2013 U-16 Team Manitoba roster; Halvorsen, Martin, Thiessen. Winnipeg Monarchs – Male Bantam AAA
The Winnipeg Monarchs rolled smoothly during the 2013-14 season with only 1 loss through league play, playoffs, and provincials. However, the Monarchs will certainly face more adversity at the 2014 Western Canada Bantam Championship in Kelowna, BC held April 3-6. The Monarchs had 16 players participate in the Manitoba Games last month with many highly rated prospects expected to continue in the 2014 Hockey Manitoba U-16 Program of Excellence and also be selected in the upcoming Western Hockey League draft.
