ROAD TO THE MIDGET AAA PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The playoffs for the Manitoba Midget AAA Hockey League will begin this weekend marking the path to the provincial championships in the Male Midget AAA category.  For the first time in while a rural team has earned the #1 seed as the Brandon Wheat Kings finished with a 39-5-0-0 season.  Led by Duncan Campbell, the Wheat Kings will meet the eighth seed Yellowhead Chiefs in the first round of the league playoffs.

The Winnipeg Wild and Winnipeg Thrashers finished second and third respectively, with the Wild taking on the Pembina Valley Hawks and Thrashers meeting the Kenora Thistles in the first round of the playoffs.  The Eastman Selects will hold home-ice as fourth seed over the Southwest Cougars rounding out quarter-final action. 

The league champion is annually crowned as Midget AAA provincial champions earning the opportunity to compete at the TELUS Cup – West Region Qualifier which will be held in Prince Albert, SK.  The champion of the West Region will then earn a berth into the 2014 TELUS Cup – National Championship held April 21-27 in Moose Jaw, SK.
