Team Manitoba falls to Saskatchewan in shootout
DARTMOUTH, NS – Team Manitoba’s medal run in hockey has come to a quick ending at the hands of Saskatchewan. Manitoba held a 2-0 lead mid-way through the third period but while killing a minor penalty they were assessed a 5-minute major penalty with 10:38 to go in the game. Despite killing off the 5-on-3 advantage and 4:36 of the major penalty, Saskatchewan was able to tie it up with 2 power-play goals. After a scoreless overtime frame, the game was sent to a shootout where each team was able to score once in the preliminary round of three shooters. The shootout finished with a total of 8 shooters from each team the last shot being the game-winning goal by Saskatchewan.
