TEAM MANITOBA FEMALE UNDER-18 OPEN CANADA GAMES WITH 6-0 VICTORY

by Hockey Manitoba  |  March 5, 2007 12:12 pm

The Team Manitoba Female Under-18 hockey team opened their Canada Games schedule with a 6-0 victory over Team Northwest Territories. A complete copy of the game summary can be found here.

The relatively close score was a testament to the play of NWT goalie Leah Sulyma. Sulyma posted 91 saves as Manitoba outshot their opposition 97-4.

It took Team Manitoba 15 minutes to finally get on the scoreboard as defenseman Saleah Morrison jumped up into the play to beat Sulyma.

Manitoba was able to increase it’s lead to 4-0 after two periods following a pair of goals by Jenelle Kohanchuk and a single marker from Bailey Bram.

It was more Team Manitoba in the third as Katie Wilson and Breann Frykas both found the twine behind Sulyma to give Team Toba a 6-0 victory.

Team Manitoba has the day off on Tuesday before taking on Team Nova Scotia on Wednesday in their final round robin game.
