TEAM MANITOBA MALE UNDER-17 OPENS CANADA GAMES WITH VICTORY, TONIGHTS GAME ON TSN
The Team Manitoba Male Under-17 hockey team opened their Canada Winter Games schedule with a win over Prince Edward Island on Sunday. Manitoba easily handled their Maritime counterparts with a 12-2 victory.
Captain Tyler Schmidt, a defenseman with the Western Hockey League’s Tri City Americans, led the team on the scoreboard, notching a hat trick while adding three assists for a six point night.
Forwards Cory More and Colin Phaneuf, of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Southeast Blades and Winnipeg South Blues respectively, each added a pair of goals. Sanfred King, Braeden Adamyk, Jordan Mistelbacher, Shayne Wiebe and Michael Stone rounded out the scoring for Team Manitoba.
Their next matchup is today, Monday February 26, as they take on Team Ontario. That game can be seen on a tape delay tonight on TSN beginning at 10:30 PM CST. Ontario opened the Games on Saturday with an 11-3 victory over PEI.
