Eight-season sponsorship commitment extends through to 2011
Calgary, AB –TELUS today announced a $2.2 million sponsorship to support Hockey Canada’s amateur hockey development and high performance programs across Canada. The eight-year commitment supports the advancement of hockey in Canada and the development of players as they reach to fulfill their Olympic dreams.
TELUS’ sponsorship was unveiled this morning by John Maduri, executive vice president and president of TELUS Business Solutions, together with Hockey Canada president, Bob Nicholson, at a special event at Father Bauer Arena in Calgary, Hockey Canada’s head office and national teams’ training centre.
“We’re just delighted to be associated with Hockey Canada and to support their programs as hockey participants across Canada aspire to attain their personal, team, regional and international goals,” said Maduri. “This funding is consistent with the TELUS brand promise ‘the future is friendly’. Along with the recent success of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Bid, we believe our commitment will result in healthy minds and bodies and provide a great deal of fun and learning for players across the country.”
“TELUS has demonstrated its strong commitment to hockey and our National programs in Canada with this initiative,” said Nicholson. “Together, we will build a great future for amateur hockey players, programs and for the game in Canada.”
